SLR Bag Insert

We are looking for some input if you have a second. We made these waterproof bags for SLR cameras to be carried in a courier bag or backpack. I know a lot of riders carry big cameras with them, but there is no really good solution for carrying it. We made this bag just for that purpose.

You slide your camera inside, roll the top up and clip it closed. And its a lightly padded case to carry your SLR in your pack. Just in case there is any confusion, it is waterproof, but not a pack meant for paddling or anything like that. But in a rain storm your camera will stay dry.

Let us know what you think if you have a minute.

Updates and what not

Just an update from the sweatshop, this weekend we went out to the Allegrippis trails at Raystown Lake. The trails were so perfect. We both rode until we could ride no more.

Then this morning I snuck out just as the sun came up and got rewarded with empty trails and a great sunrise.
Next up is a little soulrun product info. Now that its cross season we wanted to make a tool roll that would stand up to a cx training ride on singletrack. We sent out a prototype of the super tight bag to our friend Chris.

ride on!

It was a dark and stomry night, actually it was dark and wet morning.

Great morning to be out on the bike, a little slick, went down a few times!
Hope you have a good ride today.

Pro Mechanics Tool Roll v1.1

After we posted some pics of the Pro Mechanics Tool Roll v1.0 we got some great feedback for improvements.

We are now putting snaps on the mesh pockets to prevent anything from moving around during transport and we also  added grommets for hanging your tool roll up.

For all of the new hardware we are using marine grade buttons and grommets

These are the same grommets that are used to attached sails on sailboats. So these won't rust or come undone.

And if you already ordered a Pro Mechanics Tool Roll these new features will come with your tool roll.

Field Testing

We showed off Raystown to a friend of ours. So psyched to show him the trails out there. We made the two and a half hour drive. And it started off great.

Oh then a stick jammed itself in his derailleur and brought the ride to a halt, very far from the car.

I am pretty sure that derailleur is not supposed to face that direction.

Nor the removable dropout have a twist like that in it.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. Well then call me MacGuyver...

We had to take a few links out of the chain.

Then we put the replaceable derailleur hanger I carry for my turner on his scott, on the outside of the dropout, held on by the quick release and used the broken remnants of his XTR rear derailleur as a chain tensioner. Only the outer cage was still there, the inner was gone!

And I had all my tools and replaceable hanger in my soulrun tool roll, this is one of the first ones we made.

Hope you had a good ride today, without any mechanicals.

Starting the day right

A little pre work cross ride. Not a bad way to start the day.

Not related to this post in anyway, have you seens Mike Curiak's site: http://lacemine29.blogspot.com/  , I have never met the man, but he can shoot a mean camera. Also he has ridden the iditabike self supported, which makes him bad ass.

Upgrade ya

When we started soulrun back in February we bought a new sewing machine and we have already outgrown it.

Check out our new sewing machine.  60 pounds of sewing fury.
Made in America by a family owned company since 1969.

The entire thing is field serviceable, and for a nerd like me thats rad. It included a full schematic for repairing it yourself.

Welcome to the sweatshop big blue.

And how can you say upgrade without thinking of this song.

Road ride

Last week we were lucky enough to get a review on EcoVelo www.ecovelo.info/2010/08/07/soulrun-bike-tool-roll/ and we are just getting caught up now. Major thanks go out to Alan @ ecovelo. If you haven't checked out the site, go take a look, the man can take a picture. This shot above is my pale imitation.

Other things that are kinda interesting, all of our new tool rolls come with tri-glides and instructions for cutting the webbing to your length.

Summer days...

Loving these hot summer days, this is really my favorite time of the year, call me crazy but I love being outside when its 90 and above, I feel energized. Joe and I spent a lot of time outside this weekend, on Saturday we went for a nice bike ride in Frick Park and then headed out to Ohiopyle for a lovely hike with our boy Zeus.

Zeus however does not love the heat.

Aaahhh...much better.:)

and ready to go.

We watched the Tour this morning, very exciting, nice to see a Frenchman win the stage. I'm still bummed about Lance but he looks like he's still riding strong and enjoying the tour. Go Lance!

We did some mt. biking at Hartwood acres today and once again it was a blast! Such fun trails, I'm really starting to feel much stronger on the bike as I've been riding a lot more this summer than running. I miss my runs but my foot is not cooperating, I'm just happy to be out on the trails riding.

Hope everyone had wonderful weekend of riding and outdoor fun, thanks for checking out our post!!

Raystown riding

Laura and I went out to Raystown Lake last weekend and rode the sweet singletrack that makes up the Allegripis trails.

I think we might go back for another round this 4th of July weekend.

Bird in Flite

Oh man I am happy they started selling the Flite saddle again.  I had to do some product testing and go mountain riding with a two strap waterproof tool roll on my Cannondale.

No problems were encountered. Although I usually wear a camelback so I usually carry it in there.

But  either way I like Brancussi's  Bird in Space, even though I thought it was called "Bird in Flite"

Birthday Weekend:)

Its been a busy month at soulrun, Urbanvelo and All Hail the Black Market were nice enough to review our tool roll, we were psyched!! Thanks so much to Stevil and Brad. As a result we had lots of sewing to do, this weekend was my birthday though so I had to get out. I gave the sewing machine a rest and we headed out to my favorite place in PA, Ohiopyle.

We hiked the cascade loop a couple times, its such a beautiful trail and there is lots of water for Zeus which is always great.

My foot has been been killing me for the last couple months, I think I have plantar fascitis, SO ANNOYING!! Anyways the cool falls felt great on my feet.:)

Got to get back to sewing, just a quick hello, hope everyone is enjoying the first few days of summer, have good rides.:)

Happy Summer!!
